History

The beginning

A new element of Hungary’s famous aquaculture, renowned since Roman times, was found during a geological research, which began on 1st July 1957 near the town of Fonyód. Between the rock strata they found several aquifers and underground springs, which contain trace elements and minerals in a varying quantity. After closing the research the experts decided to bottle the valuable water resources explored. As a result of great investments, the first bottling unit of Fonyód was put into operation in the middle of the 1960s.
In 1972 Fonyódi won the Forum of Excellent Products trademark title, and owing to its purity the authorities recommended its consumption even for young mothers and babies. Bambi, one of the era’s legendary refreshment drinks, was also made here.

1995

New wells were set up for the increasing production, and a whole new bottling unit was built. During the investment modern bottle-making machines were put into operation. These along with the ongoing improvements guarantee the safety of production as well as the quality and purity of mineral water products on world standard.
However, the investments mentioned above laid a burden upon the company, which got into a disadvantageous situation in the hard market struggle.

1998

The company was taken over by a new group of owners, and the fresh capital contributed to renewing the product range and distribution.
